Talking About Casual Sex
Let’s Talk About It is a graphic novel (comic-style) book by Erika Moen and Matthew Nolan and is published by Penguin Random House. On the front cover the book is described as, “The teen’s Guide to Sex, Relationships, and Being a Human.” On the back, it states the book is, “Open, modern, and intelligent. An essential addition to any library.” Those are the claims but, is it appropriate for school libraries, public libraries, and children? As always, that is the question I want to answer for parents as I review the book.
The Sinking Ship
The author of Ship of Fools, Tucker Carlson, is the host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” on the Fox News Channel. For me, his second book was at times hard to read. Carlson’s writing is fine, often witty and humorous, but the magnitude of the selfish, feckless, and inept leadership that the author brings to light is stunning.
My Favorite Streaming Service
Except for the news, I rarely watch network television. With commercials that go on forever, preachy plots, and banal writing, there just isn’t anything for me. Even my news viewing is limited to conservative outlets such as Fox News. For the last few years, I’ve streamed the little entertainment programing I watch. However, services like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu are increasingly mimicking the woke and banal programming of the networks with gutter vulgarity added in.
America’s Anchorman is Gone
Rush Limbaugh has been a part of my life for thirty years.
I first became aware of him while stationed in Japan serving with the Navy. On October 6, 1991, Rush appeared on 60 Minutes. That evening I watched the interview on the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS).
