Ben Shapiro and Debunked
Ben Shapiro is a brand within The Daily Wire brand. He’s a founder and editor of the site and hosts a daily podcast and a live radio show. Perhaps that isn’t enough to keep him busy because last year he created a new video podcast titled Debunked, which I’ll discuss in detail later.
A co-founder of The Daily Wire, Ben Shapiro has achieved success from a young age. He skipped two grades on the way to graduating from high school and at seventeen became the youngest nationally syndicated columnist in the country. Then he earned a BA in Political Science from UCLA before going on to graduate from Harvard Law School in 2007. As an author, he has written eleven nonfiction books, including The Right Side of History, a New York Times number one bestseller. We covered The Daily Wire earlier, for that article click here.
While doing research for this article I searched for what others were saying. As a conservative, I’m suspicious when something receives praise from liberals. With Ben Shapiro and The Daily Wire that isn’t a problem. They seem to enrage the left. However, rage can be justified so, I read several recent articles from left-leaning sources regarding Shapiro and The Daily Wire. All contained comments like those in this NPR article titled Outrage As A Business Model, in which Judd Legum, a former Democratic campaign operative, is quoted as saying, Shapiro takes many “red meat culture war issues” that might seem offensive at first glance but gives them “an intellectual sheen. He's able to make these concepts seem as enticing as possible and make them not seem crazy.” There is also this from Forbes, “Yes, the man talks like a VHS tape on fast-forward, has an abundance of poorly thought-out opinions, and a puritanical attitude to fun music videos.” Such comments don’t impress me.
Season two of Debunked is now being released weekly on The Daily Wire. Most of Shapiro’s detractors haven’t yet attacked the podcast, but I’m certain they will. These short, fifteen minutes or less, shows present facts that counter and expose a multitude of “leftist fallacies.” I had already seen several episodes covering atheism, critical race theory, and transgender ideology. Those shows impressed me so; I continued to watch and decided to write this article.
Finding all the episodes was easy on Roku however; I couldn’t find season one of Debunked on the website. A subscription is required to view the show but, for twelve dollars a month, you can view all video content on the site.
The short, straightforward format of Debunked makes it an easy to watch and digest show. Have you seen Debunked or another show by Ben Shapiro? Tell me what you think in the comment section below.
