On the Precipice

As a child, I admired politicians. They were smart people, tackling difficult problems as they served their city, state, or the nation. Then I learned more about history, and read books like 1984, Brave New World, and Fahrenheit 451. I’m much more cynical today. I still respect a few of our leaders, but they must earn that respect. I don’t give it.

Police State is a one-hour, fifty-minute docudrama written and directed by Dinesh D’Souza, Debbie D’Souza, and Bruce Schooley, and stars Nick Searcy and Dan Bongino a former New York City Police (NYPD) officer, who then served as a Secret Service agent, and is now a radio commentator.

The FBI Came Knocking

Elise Ketch is not the typical person I report on in this blog. She has described herself as politically progressive and works for an organization that advocates for dismantling capitalism. Earlier in her life, she served as a Diversity and Inclusion representative for the Honors College of Virginia Commonwealth University. Later, she served on the Dean's Diversity board. I’m certain there are many topics on which we would disagree. However, in her current employment, Ketch is the Digital Content Creator for the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising. The PAAU bio of Ketch states that she is best known for her zine, “A Young, Femme, Gay Leftist Handed You this Pro-Life Zine.” Yes, Elise Ketch is pro-life.

Face to Face with the FBI

In May of 2022, someone leaked a draft of the Dobbs v. Jackson Supreme Court decision. The document indicated that the court planned to overturn Roe v. Wade and return the abortion issue to the states. The news triggered an avalanche of violence and vandalism against pro-life centers and churches that continues to this day. According to the Religious Freedom Institute, since the leak of the Supreme Court decision, “perpetrators have attacked at least 63 pro-life organizations, across 26 states and the District of Columbia.” While some local law enforcement agencies have conducted investigations, the response of the FBI and other agencies to these federal crimes has been impotent.

Gone Rogue

Recently an FBI whistleblower reported that the agency has lowered the priority of child sex abuse cases. This was done to allow the agency to focus on the January 6th probe and cases of domestic extremism and white supremacy. This shift of priorities would be disturbing enough but, we should not forget the recent cases that the FBI has chosen to ignore. These include the protests around and attempted assassination of Justice Kavanaugh, the Hunter Biden laptop, the political intrigue of FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and the mishandling of classified documents on Hillary Clinton’s email server. Beyond that, there are allegations that FBI Director James Comey, Agent Peter Strzok, and Lisa Page had engaged in political misconduct regarding the Russia probe and the Trump administration. None of this has had a thorough investigation.

They Poked the Bear

The FBI raid on the Mar-a-Lago home of President Trump may have poked the conservative bear one too many times.

In 1969, President Nixon popularized the phrase “silent majority,” for Americans that worked and paid taxes, but didn’t demonstrate or often engage in public discourse. Maybe they didn’t even regularly vote. This group of largely middle-class, right-of-center, Americans were often overshadowed by the left-leaning media and the radical students of that time. I believe that the left has poked the silent majority one time too many with the raid on former President Trump’s home.

American Justice?

In the early morning hours of January 19, 2021, an FBI Swat Team with tactical combat gear, automatic weapons, and an armored vehicle equipped with a battering ram raided the Virginia farm of Thomas Caldwell and his wife Sharon. With guns drawn, FBI agents entered their home, searched it, removed phones and computers, along with a pocket-sized copy of the constitution. Then they handcuffed Thomas and took him away.
