The Sinking Ship
The author of Ship of Fools, Tucker Carlson, is the host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” on the Fox News Channel. For me, his second book was at times hard to read. Carlson’s writing is fine, often witty and humorous, but the magnitude of the selfish, feckless, and inept leadership that the author brings to light is stunning.
AARP and AMAC
Founded as the American Association of Retired Persons in 1958, the organization has a reputation of being a huge liberal lobbying group, but is it?
Today the organization is known simply as the AARP, and it has grown—a lot. To give you an idea of the reach of this organization, consider that the magazine and bulletin they send to members are the two largest-circulation publications in the United States. The current CEO of AARP earns more than $1.5 million in salary and benefits.
A Right to Life Movie
One of the most well-known Supreme Court decisions is the 1973 ruling in Roe v. Wade. It is also one of the best examples of judicial activism, creating not only a legal basis for abortion but a right to it. The vast majority of the Democrat Party, many Republicans, most of Hollywood, and the media support this newfound right.
My Favorite Streaming Service
Except for the news, I rarely watch network television. With commercials that go on forever, preachy plots, and banal writing, there just isn’t anything for me. Even my news viewing is limited to conservative outlets such as Fox News. For the last few years, I’ve streamed the little entertainment programing I watch. However, services like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu are increasingly mimicking the woke and banal programming of the networks with gutter vulgarity added in.
The Dying American Dream
Hillbilly Elegy is a memoir by J.D. Vance about his life from poverty to middle class and a bit beyond. He chose the title well. Along the winding road of his life, Vance lost family, friends, and for a time, his own direction. Thanks to a strong-minded grandmother he found his way, but other things were lost forever.
The New Racism
Until recently, most Americans believed that we were moving beyond racism. We hoped that the dream of Martin Luther King Jr., would be fulfilled, his children would grow up in a nation where they would “not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” But that may not be possible. A new racism is spreading across America.
The New Diversity in the Military
Lieutenant colonel Matthew Lohmeier, commander of 11th Space Warning Squadron at Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado, was relieved of command in May after Lieutenant General Stephen Whiting, the head of Space Operations Command over a loss of confidence in his ability to lead. This reason for relieving an officer is standard verbiage for such actions. In my opinion, the real reason is that Lohmeier dared to criticize the diversity and inclusion initiatives that the Space Force, and the rest of the military, are currently pushing on service members.
Private Search
I think every American should know that in 2009 then Google CEO Eric Schmidt, stated, “If you have something that you don't want anyone to know, maybe you shouldn't be doing it in the first place. If you really need that kind of privacy, the reality is that search engines—including Google—do retain this information for some time and it's important, for example, that we are all subject in the United States to the Patriot Act and it is possible that all that information could be made available to the authorities.” To me, that sounds like a statement from a high Soviet or Chinese official—not an American.
Racism in Everything
Stamped (For Kids) is an adaptation of Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You. This book makes Critical Race Theory (CRT) accessible for children. That alone would be troublesome, but this book generalizes, glosses over inconvenient facts, and in other places is factually incorrect.
Discover Conservative Candidates
I’d like to see both Democrat senators from my state out of a job. Republicans often think that to win in a blue or purple state they have to run as moderates and only come out strong on safe topics. History shows this is nonsense.
Trump and the Military
Military veterans and those who died deserve respect. That was the headline of Julie McDonald’s column on September 6th. I believe and support those words and expected to agree with Julie as I read her column. My expectations changed quickly.
We Prepared for This
In a crisis, what you expect from the government depends upon your political viewpoint. In 2005 as hurricane Katrina reached New Orleans, Mayor Ray Nagin directed residents to shelter at the city convention center without any provision for food, water, or medical care. Within a day, many were desperate for drinking water.
The Importance of the Past
In the introduction to The Unbroken Thread, the author states, “A radically assimilated immigrant isn’t supposed to complain about his freedom. Yet as I grow into my faith and my role as a father, I tremble over the prospect of my son’s growing up in an order that doesn’t erect any barriers against individual appetites and if anything, goes out of its way to demolish existing barriers.”
The Good of America
This last year it seems as if we are caught in an Orwellian nightmare where some seek to rewrite history, burn and loot our cities, and then declare they are the victims. Yes, this is a time of trial and tribulation, but this is also a day to remember and celebrate.
News, the old fashioned way
Time and Newsweek dominated the newsmagazine business for decades after they were founded in the early years of the twentieth century. At different times in my younger days, I subscribed to both of the weekly magazines. However, since the turn of the century, both publications have seen steep declines in readership.
ADF vs ACLU
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) supports abortion, up to and including partial-birth abortion. It encourages the teaching of the LGBTQ agenda in schools. It will not defend the First Amendment rights of pro-life pregnancy centers or small religious businesses. It no longer defends religious freedom, although it once did.
Carrying on the Legacy
I first became aware of Rush Limbaugh while stationed in Japan, serving with the Navy. On October 6, 1991, Rush appeared on 60 Minutes. That evening I watched the interview on the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS). Rush died earlier this year, and today his show comes to an official end. Who will carry his work forward to a new generation?
CRT and Education
Within the scope of Critical Race Theory is the concept that whiteness is the ultimate property and that it conveys value and privilege to those born with it. Also, encapsulated within this theory is the idea that whites do not help blacks out of a sense of justice or fairness, but only to avoid confronting their own racism, to avoid criticism, or to make themselves look good.

YouTube is a subsidiary of Google which is a subsidiary of Alphabet. These are the same people that brought you Google search, the Chrome browser, and Fitbit. Like other big tech companies, YouTube has made a sport of stifling conservative voices.
